I wanted to put out a brief update about what's been going on with me, health wise.
As many of you know, I have been having a lot of difficulty breathing for about one month even before being diagnosed with the flu. I also haven't been able to sing...it's like something inside is stopping me. After not being able to work and also suffering a horrible relapse with a sinus infection, the pressure in my chest and my labored breathing became worse.
Last week, I went to the emergency room and from their tests they found out I have a Pulmonary Embolism and Pericarditis (a blood clot in my lung and swelling/fluid around my heart). I was admitted for 3 days and am now on blood thinners and a medication for my heart. No wonder I couldn't breathe! I am extremely thankful that this was discovered and I am now under the care of several docs to get to the bottom of why this happened.
I have had to rest a lot and am now starting the slow process of getting my strength back. Because the virus that I got affected me so intensely, my immune system is compromised and I will need to wait until flu season is over in May before returning to my public classes at Yogaworks. With 30-40 people in a closed room for 70 minutes, it's too dangerous for me right now.
I miss all my classes and my wonderful students and I thank many of you for your kind emails and private messages. I will see everyone in May!!
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
